With Marvel Studio’s Captain America: The First Avenger released recently, it seemed a good opportunity to look through some classic Captain America Marvel comics. Having re-read the 1970's Jack Kirby issues recently, I decided to revisit a couple of Cap stories from 1968/9 illustrated by Jim Steranko.
Jim Steranko had already made a big impression at Marvel with his inventive design work on 'Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D'. in 'Strange Tales',
By the time he arrived on the Captain America book with issue 110, he was producing some of the most ground-breaking, original and explosive art in the history of comics.
Steranko's run of Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD has been collected in this TPB. His Captain America work is available in colour in the deluxe HB Marvel Masterworks - Captain America Vol.3 , and also in the black and white reprint Essential series.
